To make sure you’re saving enough money to live on when you’re older, it’s important to start planning ahead. You’ll need to think about when you’d like to start taking your pension benefits, and how much they could be worth. If you’re an Employee member, we send you a Benefit Illustration each year which includes a breakdown of your benefits. If you have paid Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) then you’ll get a statement each year from Scottish Widows, Standard Life or Aviva – depending where your funds are invested. It’s important that you know what to expect from your benefits. This way, you can plan ahead – and get the retirement you really want.

To help you to picture the type of lifestyle you can expect at retirement, take a look at the Retirement Living Standards site.

For more information go to ‘Understanding your pension‘ where you’ll find a helpful video about how your Age60/65 benefits work. For answers to frequently asked questions take a look at  ‘Your questions answered‘.
